so i've got this piece of crap laptop from 2000. it's an IMB stinkpad
the little tic-tak mouse/joustic shit thing in the middle is broken
the battery is completely dead

the monitor is fine though

it's 256MB ram, 500MHRZ processor, pentium 4

ANYWAY
i'm thinking i should do something with this, like anything. i'm not exactly sure, but does anybody have any ideas of how i could salvage this for something? i could use a project right now

I think that, thanks to some advice from my good friend chris martin, i'm going to mount it in my car and connect it to my stereo so i can play music/videos from it. all i gotta do is put some super fast linux on it so it can run at a tolerable speed

Well. i REALLY want to put ubuntu 8.10 on it,... but i don't know if it's gonna work. i tried gusty gibbon, but it said the BIOS is too old. haha, piece of shit.

Update the BIOS, you can download it from the brand site.

I had a laptop like this, and it made a wonderful "hacktop"

if you have the latest BIOS, then it shouldn't say that its too old.
