Would it be fair to say that the debate section isn't exactly active and at the moment doesn't warrant a forum, perhaps topics should be moved into general discussion.

No the debates should stay. There is already talk about moving other forums into the General Discussion and would just turn GD into a spam fest.

I disagree. The debate section isn't super inactive, there are many posts in that section per day.

Plus the general discussion section is quite crowded. If anything, debate should be moved into a sub-section under general discussion.

I say leave them, they are debate matter so they belong in the debate section. If they are active or not so be it, theres a debate section for a reason.
